If there is one thing that any kid dreads, that is home work! Kids are under the impression that school work should stop with school. And when teachers give them that extra workload to complete at home, they cannot also bear it!
So, here are some tips to make them not fuss much about doing school work at home.
Make it fun
It is very important that you make learning fun. Not only is it a teacher’s job to make studying interesting for the kids whilst at school, but it is also your duty as a parent to make it a fun activity at home. When you have an interactive and fun way teaching your kids at home they will actually look forward to it. If you start yelling and commanding them of what to do and what not to, you are bound to make them dread studying at home. Everything depends on how you approach them with the work!
You can also instigate a sibling competition between the kids. You can get them to do better than their sibling by simply telling them you are going to see who finishes all their school work first or who gets all correct. Instigating a competition like this will help you ensure that you get them to do the work. And with time they may even do things on their own to prove to you who is the better sibling! You may not have to find a cheap english course Melbourne after school for them to attend to ensure that language is never an issue!
Have a reward scheme
This is one of the most effective tips for me. I have set up a chart that pictures a ladder. At the beginning end of the ladder are the words, “start” and at the other end of the ladder is a treasure box with the words, “Congratulations! You have won!” Each time my kid completes the homework without a fuss and does everything correctly, I have a needle that climbs the stairs of the ladder. And once it reaches the treasure box I get him a gift of his choice. Mainly chocolates or rides to the park with some fun activities planned for him. This rewarding system has been such a success that I don’t even have to now call my kid to learn English, he brings the books to me! Give them their freedom
It is very important that we give our kids their free time. They should be given at least 2 hour or so, for them to play whatever they like. Did you know that our children’s minds are much more simulated and active when playing outdoor games than hen sitting and studying? Make sure that you give them their space. Simply forcing their little brains will do no good that is for sure!
